Singular Atacama
5 DAYS / 4 NIGHTS
DAY 1: CALAMA, SAN PEDRO DE ATACAMA, MOON & DEATH VALLEY
Arrival at Calama Airport and transfer to San Pedro de Atacama, located at 2.440 m above sea level. In the afternoon we will explore the Death Valley, located inside the salt mountain range with amazing forms. Afterwards our tour continues to the Moon Valley, one of the most spectacular phenomena in the Atacama Desert due to its geological structures formed by erosion and climate.
DAY 2: HD QUEBRADA DEL DIABLO BY MOUNTAINBIKE & HD SALAR DE ATACAMA
Your Mountainbike Tour (approx. 3,5 hours; Level: medium) to the Quebrada del Diablo starts at your hotel. Our first stop will be at the Pucara de Quitor, a fortress built in the 12th century by the Incas. Entering the Catarpe Canyon we follow the course of San Pedro River and we will enter the Quebrada del Diablo, a result of erosion by wind and water. In the afternoon we start our tour by visiting Toconao and the Salar de Atacama. The salt flat is an inland sea formed millions of years ago and it is home to various species of flamingos as well as many other birds.
DAY 3: HD TREKKING QUEBRADA DE LOS CARDONES & HD CEJAR LAGOON
Pick-Up at your hotel and drive to the Guatin Valley, where we will start our Trekking of approx. 2,5 hours. Some of the species to be found in this canyon are more than 5oo years old. In the afternoon we will head towards Cejar Lagoons, which waters has high salt density which «forces» your body to float. Afterwards we drive on towards Ojos del Salar and Tebenquiche Lagoon, where we will appreciate the sunset while sipping at our delicious Pisco Sour…
DAY 4: FD TREKKING MACHUCA & RIO GRANDE
Early in the morning, departure from your hotel in San Pedro to drive to Machuca village, located 3.400 m above sea level. It is a breathtaking place in the middle of the highland. We will start our trek here – almost all the way downhill – following the Peñaliri River to finally reach Rio Grande, a small village with only fifty inhabitants.
DAY 5: TRANSFER TO CALAMA AIRPORT
According to your flight a transfer will take you to Calama Airport.
