Fascinating Chiloe Island

3 DAYS / 2 NIGHTS

DAY 1: ARRIVAL PUERTO MONTT, PUÑIHUIL PENGUIN COLONY (SUMMER) OR VISIT OF ANCUD (WINTER) & TRANSFER TO QUEILÉN

In the morning arrival at Puerto Montt Airport and pick-up by your local guide. We will drive south-east, followed by a 30-minute ferry crossing during which we may observe sea lions and even dolphins. Once on the island and in Summer season (November to March) we will head towards the West Pacific Coast for reaching the beach of Puñihuil, where we will board a zodiac boat to get closer to the two islands where Humboldt and Magellan penguins breed together.

In Winter season (April to October) we will head west towards Caulin Bay, where we will have the opportunity to observe a variety of wildlife, including flamencos. We will continue towards Ancud for visiting the local craft and fish market and the famous fortress San Antonio, the last Spanish bastion in Chile. Afterwards we continue to the fishing village of Dalcahue, where we take our time to explore the beauties and culture of this small fishing village.  Overnight in Chiloe.

DAY 2: VISIT OF CASTRO & HD TREKKING CHILOE NP

Our morning excursion takes us to the capital of the island, Castro, where we can observe the traditional “palafitos” (houses built on stilts along the shore) and visit the majestic wooden church (an UNESCO World Heritage Site). Afterwards we will continue towards Chiloe National Park, which has various trails available to explore the park´s interior. Overnight in Cucao, at a simple but comfortable hotel.

DAY 3: TRANSFER TO PUERTO MONTT AIRPORT / CASTRO AIRPORT

  • Option 1: According to your flight schedule we will leave Chiloe Island, take the ferry to Pargua and from there continue to Puerto Montt Airport.
  • Option 2: Transfer to Castro Airport.
